I just wanted to send you a note to tell you how happy we are with the SKYLLA system that we purchased a year ago. It has been just over a year since your tech installed our system and it has worked as advertised. As you recall, we had considered other operating systems, but we decided on Skylla after you demonstrated it for me. Our on-air personalities (yes, we still have live shows) love the system because it is so easy to understand. Even our part-time staff, who we generally train from scratch with little or no broadcast experience, have little problem understanding all the basics. I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know that Skylla has been performing very well for our 5 stations. The more we work with it, the more my announcers and I like it. Taking into consideration our unique situation of having stations 50 miles apart, I couldn’t think of a system more suited to fit our needs. The remote voice-tracking and production capabilities of Skylla Producer make it much easier to use my announcers for any of my stations regardless of which location they are working from.

There are so many advantages to the new Skylla system for our college students, including the ease of using it in live mode, the updated clocks and the ability to program the music schedule weeks and months ahead of time. Over the summer, I was able to access the system from 1,400 miles away and make immediate on-air log changes via computer. It was not only easy but it saves us so much time and trouble. As soon as I installed the first Smart Touch at KATR, I quickly installed two more at our other two locations. We have found it so simple to use, and it makes us sound so much more local, we now broadcast from many more events in our community simply because we don’t have to schedule anyone in studio, plus the only equipment we carry is a cell phone. I also found an additional benefit not having to drive the 11 minutes from my home to the station to report severe weather. In this day and age, we have to be more local with our stations and this gives us the perfect opportunity to do just that.

On Monday, October 2, 2007, the Cornerstone Bank south branch facility was robbed. I was on the scene in minutes to find out that not only had a robbery occurred, but a box was left behind and the robber said there was a bomb. The Nebraska State Patrol bomb squad was called in and I was right there in the middle of all the action. I grabbed my cell phone and dialed into the Smart Touch system, pressed one, and the intro started with a NEWS BULLETIN and I proceeded to tell everyone what was going on. The story kept unfolding in front of me as the bomb squad entered the bank. I was able to go live on both stations with reports without anyone back at the station lifting a finger to get me on the air. We were fortunate that nobody was hurt and there wasn’t a bomb, but I had the story before anyone else. Like the commercial for American Express, the cost of a Smarts System having the ability to go live on your station anywhere and at any time without the need of a Board Operator … PRICELESS.
